Focus:  Your horse uses his diagonals (a diagonal is the front and opposite hind foot) in most maneuvers for balance and lightness. Ride those diagonals, and develop balance for your comfort and your horse's over any terrain.  Make the right thing easy!

Locomotion Diagonals and how your horse uses them. For a smoother more balanced ride (and no bucking!), ride those diagonals!
Riding the wave! Develop balance for a comfortable ride over any terrain. Your horse will love it!
Cadence Know where his feet are. Learn to influence the feet, according to how he moves (vs. what is intuitive to a biped!)
Tap into your horse's natural flow Blend with him, shape him, release him to the maneuver you have in mind.

“There were two things that happened that I can say were the most important things that helped me to improve my horsemanship – that being the proper way to sit on a horse, and learning to feel of those feet” Bill Dorrance, in "True Horsemanship Through Feel", page 40.

“When you’re walking along in good form, your body is fairly balanced on the horse, and it’s sort of like it is when you are standing on the ground” Bill Dorrance, in "True Horsemanship Through Feel", page 42.

“It was pretty important when I learned to put that foot someplace as it was coming up, because that’s when it hardly weighed anything. I could move it one way or the other and the horse didn’t offer to resist at all. He needed a place to put that foot down anyway” Bill Dorrance, in "True Horsemanship Through Feel", page 43.

Details of session content are customized to the particular rider/horse combinations in any given coaching session.
